On October 19, 2023 American Airlines announced it would add 10 ex Alaska Airlines Airbus A321neo aircraft into the fleet that flew in the Alaska Airlines configuration until April 2025. These aircraft do not have the cabin flex layout and are in the standard American A321 190 seat layout which all have Airbus XL bins, and power ports and USB ports at every seat.  All A321 are equipped with Viasat satellite Wi-fi and IFE onboard is free to stream on your personal device.

However, in August 2026 American made the decision to reintroduce seatback screens across its narrowbody fleet starting in 2028, featuring 4K displays, Bluetooth audio, Starlink Wi-Fi and USB-C charging. Along with the new interior American plans to add additoinal premium seating on all A321NX and NEO aircraft
