You will use these skills in landscaping, architecture, research, construction, hairdressing, fashion, design and computing
You will be able to:
Find the perimeter of various shapes given lengths
Find length given perimeter
Find the area of rectangles and triangles using the correct formulae and vice versa
Identify the correct value to substitute into each formulae
Key Vocabulary:
Sides, units, boundary, distance, sum, unit squares
Notes:
The perimeter is the distance around the boundary or outside of a region
Add all side lengths together making sure you have all sides in the same units first
Area is the measurement of the sides of a surface
Units are squared in area, make sure you square any units you need to convert first
Textbook Questions: Chapter 12B (every 2nd question)
Textbook Questions: Chapter 12C (Questions 1 - 5)
Textbook Questions: Chapter 12D - 12E (every 3rd question)
Explain using examples how the formulae for the area of a rectangle and a triangle are related and how each formulae were derived.
