Noraziah binti Abu Yazid

Noraziah Abu Yazid is a senior lecturer at Faculty of Chemical & Natural Resources Engineering (FKKSA), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) under Bioprocess Engineering Cluster (BEC2). Before joining FKKSA, she has working experience at Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) and Sime Darby under research and development department.

She obtained her Bachelor in Biotechnology-Biochemical Engineering from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). During her study, she done a project related to plant tissue culture which was optimization study of Eurycoma longifolia (Tongkat ali). She finished Master of Science (Biochemical) in Chemical Engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). In her master study, she was producing functional food (FOS) using immobilized cells in a rotating fibrous bioreactor. Her PhD in Environmental Science and Technology was acquired from Institut de Ciència i Tecnologia Ambientals (ICTA) in Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB), Spain. The research study related to management of solid waste using solid-state fermentation. Also, in the study, she immobilized the enzyme produced using nanoparticles.

She started joining FKKSA in 2010. Apart from teaching chemical engineering subjects, she also committed to research and consultation in biochemical and environmental engineering. Her research interests are in food technology, solid waste management, solid-state fermentation, enzymes and immobilization technology, environmental biotechnology, and nanotechnology.
