Research and Professional Experience:

Dr Chua Gek Kee @ Yeo Gek Kee, AMIChemE, is currently a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Chemical and Natural Resources Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Pahang. She graduated from the University of Malaya, Malaysia with a second-class upper honor in Bachelor Degree of Chemical Engineering in year 1997. She received her Master degree in Biochemical Engineering from the same institution in year 2000. In year 2011, she obtained her PhD degree from Massey University, New Zealand in Bioprocess Engineering.

Dr. Chua has been teaching the core subjects of chemical engineering such as thermodynamics, chemical engineering thermodynamics, mass and energy balance, engineering mechanics and fluid mechanics. She also taught bioprocess engineering core subjects and laboratory subjects such as bioseparation engineering, bioprocessing laboratory, biochemistry and microbiology laboratory etc. Dr. Chua was also given a managerial task apart from the academic duties, through her appointment as Head of Academic Panel (Pharmaceutical) from Oct 2011 – Aug 2013 to develop the new engineering technology program specialize in pharmaceutical processing. Following this, she was also being appointed as the Head of Program for Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Pharmaceutical) in Faculty of Engineering Technology from Sept 2013 – June 2015 to execute the program and develop the teaching and laboratory facilities.

Dr. Chua research interest focusing on the enzymatic reaction, bioprocess scale up and optimization. She has been leading and involved in several projects funded by Ministry of Higher Education, such as FRGS, ERGS, KTP and LRGS. She also involved in the project funded by Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, such as Science Fund. Dr. Chua has more than 20 publications with an H-index of 6. The research is on the production of bacteria cellulose from food wastes. Candidate is preferred to be highly motivated person and able to work independently.
