Farhan Binti Mohd Said, PhD. is currently a senior lecturer of the Faculty of Chemical and Natural Resources Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Pahang. She obtained her first degree in Bachelor of Technology (Honours) (Food) from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Later, she pursued her master degree in Bioprocess Engineering in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. During her master study, she was dealing with spray dry of encapsulated probiotic. Her Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD.) was awarded by Massey University, New Zealand in the field of Bioprocess Engineering in food application. In her PhD. studies, she was working with the pigment production using solid-state fermentation process. Her knowledge on the fermentation techniques is outstanding and vast.
In the faculty, she has been teaching various subjects of chemical and biotechnology, such as analytical chemistry, biology for engineers, computer programming and Food Engineering. Apart from teaching, Dr Farhan is also committed in research and consultation in the field of food and bioprocess engineering. She was successfully granted PPRN project on the application of CMSS as halal bread improver. The project was in collaboration with My Synergy Factors Industries and funded by the Ministry of Higher Education. Dr Farhan’s is always collaborating and sharing her expertise to industries and the currently collaborations include Mercu Resolution and Pekan Pina Sdn. Bhd.
Dr Farhan main research interests include the fermentation process technology, food product development, food preservation, using statistical approach. She has conducted and completed numerous funded research projects, funded by the Ministry of Higher Education and Universiti Malaysia Pahang. She has also published numerous journal papers and seminar presentations/papers in conference proceedings at national and international level.
Outside of academia, she was recently appointed as Fatwa Commission Member of MPJA. Besides, she also actively involves as a writer in the Journal Halal Pahang.
