IRB #STUDY00023755
Overview
The CBIT+TMS Study combines Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). CBIT is a standard therapy for Tourette that can help people manage their tics. TMS is a treatment that activates a specific area in the brain over several sessions. Both have been shown to be safe.
The CBIT+TMS Study is an in-person study for people aged 12-21 who experience tics.
What is the Goal of the CBIT+TMS Study?
The goal of the CBIT+TMS Study is to test if TMS can help make CBIT therapy even more effective. CBIT is a recommended treatment for tics, but it only works for about 50% of people who receive it. Our research team wants to know if pairing CBIT with TMS can increase the number of people who benefit from CBIT. [1] Our research team hopes that the CBIT+TMS Study will add to treatment options for youth with tics.
Who Can Participate?
You may be eligible to participate–or your child may be eligible to participate– if you or your child:
are 12-21 years old
experiences tics
