This present research study is being done to examine whether combining the standard tic therapy, CBIT, with transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to the supplementary motor area (SMA) improves tic suppression ability and enhances CBIT outcomes in young people with tic disorders.

Between the ages of 12 - 21
Currently experiencing chronic motor and/or vocal tics
Right-handed
Able to undergo MRI
Not currently receiving therapy focused on tics
Not currently taking neuroleptic/antipsychotic medications
If eligible, you will be asked to complete pre- and post-treatment MRI scans, two weeks of daily CBIT and TMS treatment, pre- and post-treatment assessment visits, and 1-month and 3-month follow up visits. Treatment visits and MRI scans will take place on campus at the University of Minnesota. You will have the option to complete the assessment and follow-up visits either in-person or via Zoom.
MRI scans, assessment visits, and treatment visits will take approximately 3 weeks to complete. Including follow-up visits, your participation in this study will last up to 20 weeks. Participants will be compensated for their time.
