Heart disease is the #1 cause of death globally, and the leading cause of death in women in the United States.

Around 1 in 5 female deaths.

About 1 in 16 women age 20 and older (6.2%) have coronary heart disease, the most common type of heart disease:

  • About 1 in 16 white women (6.1%), black women (6.5%), and Hispanic women (6%)

  • About 1 in 30 Asian women (3.2%)

Risk Factors for Heart Disease:

  • Diabetes

  • Unhealthy nutrition

  • Not maintaining a healthy weight

  • Physical inactivity

  • Drinking too much alcohol

Reduce Risk Factors:

  • Know your blood pressure - uncontrolled blood pressure raises risk.

  • Know if you have Diabetes or a family history

  • Quit smoking

  • Healthy nutritional choices

  • Limit alcohol

  • Healthy stress management practices
