CAPS (TWU's Counseling and Psychological Services) provides short-term therapy and consultation to students who are experiencing emotional and psychological problems that are interfering with their academic performance and personal well-being. Fees for services are already included in students’ previously paid fees. No additional charges are incurred for therapy services.
Counseling and Family Therapy Clinic provides therapy services to individuals, individuals in relationships, friends and families, using graduate student therapists from Counseling and Development and Marriage and Family Therapy departments. Fees for services are based on a sliding scale and are typically between $20 and $150 per session.
Meta Telehealth
Virtual counseling support for students who are unable to be served by CAPS. Available to TWU students in Denton, Dallas and Houston. Students may receive up to 6 TWU sponsored sessions per year. Free sessions are limited and available on first come first served basis. Students also may purchase counseling sessions through the Meta app.

Togetherall is a safe online community where TWU students can anonymously connect with others who understand what you’re going through. Whether you want to get advice, tips or just want someone to listen outside of your friendship group, Togetherall is available to you. You too may be able to help others! Lots of students find Togetherall helpful as you can continue exploring your feelings at your own pace, speak to others in similar situations and make use of different resources without time pressure--all in one platform. Local Mental Health Authorities - Located in Denton, Dallas and Harris counties, this list of sources can help you navigate a variety of challenges, including domestic violence, sexual assault, substance abuse, PTSD and more.
211 Texas - 2-1-1 Texas, a program of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, is committed to helping Texas citizens connect with the services they need. No matter where you live in Texas, you can dial 2-1-1, or (877) 541-7905, and find information about resources in your local community. Whether you need help finding food or housing, child care, crisis counseling or substance abuse treatment, one number is all you need to know.
CredibleMinds - United Way of Denton County has partnered with Denton County and CredibleMind, an online evidence-based self-care platform. The partnership will make personalized well-being resources available to the nearly one million residents of Denton County, Texas at no cost to the user.
VA Crisis Line - Are you a Veteran in crisis or concerned about one? Contact the VA Crisis Line for 24/7, confidential crisis support for Veterans and their loved ones. You don't have to be enrolled in VA benefits or health care to connect. Dial 988 then press 1 or Text 838255.
