After serving in the United States Air Force, Ed Bolin graduated from Ohio University and began his teaching and coaching career at Trimble. From 1975-1978 Coach Bolin was an assistant coach for teams that posted an overall record of 25-12-3. In 1979 Ed became the head coach of the Trimble football program and during his tenure his teams won two Tri-Valley Conference Championships, had the school's first undefeated football season, and first trip into the OHSAA playoffs. At the time of his departure from Trimble his head coaching record was 33-15-3.
Coach Bolin was named Ohio Class A Coach of the Year in 1980.
After serving as the head coach at Waverly High School, Coach Bolin's overall coaching record was 197-82-3 and he was inducted into the Waverly Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017, and the Ohio Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2018. The home lockerroom at Waverly's Raidiger Field is dedicated in his honor.
While his record is impressive, Coach Bolin will be remembered for his strong positive influence on the personal development of his players.
