During Mr. Holbert's high school career, Trimble was not affiliated with a conference until Baseball season of his senior year.  As a receiver in football, he was the first to have over 500 yards receiving in a season (526 yards in 1976).  He is still 3rd in school history in career receiving yards with 1,411. He is also tied for 4th for most receiving touchdowns in a career.

Mr. Holbert was a four year letter winner in baseball at Muskingum College. After college, Coach Holbert returned to Trimble and lead the football team to an undefeated season in 1989 and the basketball team to a district championship in 1992.
