As a guard, Mr. Crawford was a key part of the 1951 GHS second place finish in the MVL, and preserved the tie in the season ending game against Chauncey-Dover by recovering a Hubert Bobo fumble.
Mr. Crawford was awarded a football scholarship to the University of Eastern Kentucky where he graduated with a bachelor's degree
Mr. Crawford obtained a master's degree from the University of Louisville. He served for 24 years as a public school administrator and was the former President of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association. The football stadium at Ballard High School in Louisville is named the Pat Crawford Stadium in his honor.
