Which course am I studying?

Our courses are all from the AQA exam board.

Most students will study 8464 GCSE Combined Science Trilogy

Those doing separate science will study 8461 GCSE Biology, 8462 GCSE Chemistry and 8463 GCSE Physics.

What will we study?

All students follow a common program of study in year 9 at the end of year 9 some students will be selected to study separate sciences with the majority studying combined science.

How many GCSEs will I get?

Those studying GCSE Combined Science Trilogy will earn two GCSEs and those studying GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics will earn 3 GCSEs.

How many science exams will I take?

Everyone will sit 6 science papers at the end of year 11:

  • Biology 1.

  • Biology2.

  • Chemistry 1.

  • Chemistry 2.

  • Physics 1.

  • Physics 2.

For those studying combined science each exam will be 1 hour 15 minutes long and worth 16.7% of your 2 GCSEs.

For those studying separate sciences each exam will be 1 hour 45 minutes long and worth 50% of the relevant GCSE.

How can I make sure I get the best possible grade?

Being in all of your lessons is obviously a fantastic start! To do really well you need to try hard in lessons and complete all work to the best of your ability. You also need to be prepared to put in the extra time needed to master concepts that you find tricky at first.
