PCC News 15 October 2020

PCC would like to welcome all new and returning parents to the 2020-21 school year. We are certainly faced with an unusual school year ahead as the Covid-19 pandemic has brought many challenges globally and to our school community. This year, the PCC is working to find opportunities to preserve and sustain our traditional activities through innovative ways given the new realities of social distancing and limited gathering, we need your support to continue helping our community so we encourage you to reach out to us with ideas on our main mailbox pcc@thebsbh.com.

We are starting the new academic year with open vacancies within the PCC team

The Parent Community Committee strives to be the link between parents and the school; a forum in which to share and generate ideas, a means to communicate news and a platform for social activities organised within the BSB.

The Parent Community Committee (PCC) consists of 15 parent representatives, 1 for each year (Nursery to Y13). We currently have vacancies for Nursery, Y3, Y4, Y6 and Y13

Parent representatives are responsible for organising a number of social events throughout the year, with the help of volunteering parents from their respective year groups.

Parent representatives are not part of the BSB executive board and it is not within their remit to act as a voice for individual students – parents should continue to make contact with teachers directly for this.

If you feel you can contribute in a positive and enthusiastic way to the PCC and our BSB community and are currently a parent with a child in Nursery, Y3, Y4, Y6 or Y13 - please fill in the form below.

On Tuesday 14th January, the PCC team held the first coffee morning for this term to welcome the new parents and to discuss the biggest event of the year, "The international Family Fair".

A big thank you to “Pita Bread” for supplying our coffee morning with a large array of their tasty pastries, bread sticks and cupcakes.

PCC team gave an introductory speech explaining how we organize this event and invited all parents to join hands with us to make this event a big success as always.

To celebrate cultural diversity, promote international cohesiveness within our community, we are calling our BSB families to represent their countries and sign up for a country stall.

Our first Country Stall Meeting will be on Sunday 19th January at the school cafe.

A separate email with the invitation and more details will be sent out today. We hope to see as many countries as possible.

Lost and Found

Has your child lost a hat, a lunch box, water bottle, their jacket or a piece of uniform?

These are examples for what is currently in the school's lost property area, behind the white gate near the climbing frame. If a lost item has a name on it, it can be returned to the child's classroom. Items that are left will be placed on tables near the climbing frame on 9th, 10th and 11th of December. Please come and have a look if your child has lost something.

Unclaimed items will be disposed of during the winter break, whether to be sold in the second hand shop or to be donated to charity.

Thanks to everyone who has helped in organizing the lost property.

We strongly advise parents to label their children belongings - it's the best way to be sure it gets returned quickly. It's also helpful for children to learn to take care of their property, even if it's labelled. When they have lost something, they should revisit the areas they have been to and, if they still haven't found the item, they should check the lost property area with a teacher's permission.

Bahrain National Day

The PCC is proud to be part of the school's National Day Celebration on the 12th of December. We are looking for some parents to volunteer and help in manning the tables and throughout the event's different activities 8:00-11:30 am.

A Google form will be sent out to all parents with the details.

If you are interested in being part of this great celebration, please sign up for an activity and choose your time slot.
