Lauren Hudecki - Ice Hockey

I came into the school as a female hockey player in grade nine, leaving all my friends who went to other schools. For most people, going to a new high school and not knowing anyone would have been very tough, but with BEAP I instantly felt a sense of belonging and comfort, making friends right away. The BEAP program has been a huge influence on the person I am today, teaching me important lessons that I will carry with me through my entire life. 

The program has helped me grow not only as an athlete, by teaching me how to train and take care of my body, but also as a person. It allowed me to find myself through my love of sport and fitness and helped me meet many like-minded, unique athletes, who all bring their own experiences and knowledge into the program. Training every day with many different high-level athletes has shown me how every discipline might train slightly differently, but the importance of mindset, teamwork and hard work are what makes the real difference. 

BEAP class has been the highlight of my day for the past 4 years as I have loved being around so many like-minded people who share the same energy, mindset, determination and drive as me. That group has challenged me to become better, while making life-long friends along the way. I feel as though I have people who support and encourage me behind my back as I try and be the best athlete I can be. 

The program has given me a foundation when it comes to health and nutrition, as it has opened my eyes to what I am really passionate about in life and what I may do in the future when it comes to my career. Because of BEAP, I now aspire to work in the sports industry, as the energy, knowledge and passion it has given me has inspired me to continue down this path. Additionally, I aspire to use all the knowledge I have gained from being in the program to live a happy, healthy life when it comes to fitness and nutrition. 

Since Day One in the program, I have had so much fun. Meeting lifelong friends and being part of the BEAP community has made my high school experience one I will never forget.
