Crispin Duenas - 2004

The BEAP program accepted me as the first ever archer and I was very grateful for this opportunity to train with the best. I was pushed harder than I would’ve been in a regular Phys Ed class, and the Kinesiology I learned was very important for my learning and understanding of how an athlete’s body is developed and maintained.

Since graduating from BEAP, I have competed at three Olympics and have also won medals at the World Championship level. I am currently training for my fourth Olympics and plan to become a national level coach after my competitive career.

While training for the 2008 Olympics I was also working on my Honours Bachelor of Science with a major in physics at the University of Toronto. After completing my degree, I went back to UofT for a degree in teaching physics and math at the high school level. Currently I'm a supply teacher with the Toronto District School Board working at various schools in the Scarborough area.

Having graduated over 10 years ago, I’m still applying concepts and exercise methods I had learned while in BEAP. BEAP has helped numerous professional athletes achieve their goals, as well as a handful of Olympic athletes. I have no doubt that any student who chooses to pursue the BEAP program at Birchmount has chosen a life of excellence and high achievement.
