GANAG Structure
G – Goal
Students will identify at least one “fruit” of the Spirit.
Students will understand that God wants us to show His love to others through kind actions.
Students will participate in a community service project by decorating a fruit-shaped plushie to give away.
A – Access Prior Knowledge
(5–7 minutes)
Activity: Fruit Basket Brainstorm
Show real or felt fruits (apple, banana, grape, etc.).
Ask: “What do fruits do? How do they help us?”
Transition: “The Bible talks about a different kind of fruit… not the kind you eat, but the kind that grows in our hearts when we love Jesus.”
N – New Information
(10–12 minutes)
Mini-Lesson: The Fruit of the Spirit
Show a colorful chart or use a simple song/video about the Fruit of the Spirit (optional: “Fruit of the Spirit Song”).
Briefly explain each fruit with gestures or visuals:
Love – hugging
Joy – big smile
Peace – quiet hands
Patience – waiting in line
Kindness – helping a friend
Goodness – making right choices
Faithfulness – keeping promises
Gentleness – soft touches
Self-control – saying no to wrong things
Anchor Scripture Reading (visual Bible):
Use a picture Bible or a teacher-led short paraphrase of Galatians 5:22–23.
A – Apply the Learning
(25–30 minutes)
Activity: Plushie Decorating – Sharing God’s Fruit
Each child receives a fruit-shaped plushie (pre-cut felt, foam, or pre-made).
Provide decorations: googly eyes, fabric markers, stickers, ribbons, etc.
Prompt: “Let’s make a special fruit plushie that shows one fruit of the Spirit that you want to share with another child!”
Optional:
Children can choose a word (Joy, Love, Peace, etc.) to add on a tag or sticker.
Write a small note or prayer (guided/dictated to teacher) to attach to the plushie.
Teacher prompts during crafting:
“Who do you think will get your fruit?”
“How do you think they’ll feel?”
“What fruit of the Spirit do you want to share today?”
G – Generalize the Learning
(5–7 minutes)
Circle Reflection: “I Can Share God’s Fruit”
Sit in a circle and let children share:
“I made a [banana] and I want to share [kindness] with someone who feels sad.”
Emphasize: “We can serve others and make them smile by showing them God’s love.”
G – Goal Revisited
(Closure – 5 minutes)
Prayer + Blessing Over the Plushies
Pray together for the children who will receive the plushies.
Encourage the kids: “You are little, but God can use you in big ways to spread His love!”
