Pre-Kindergarten Lesson Plan: Deeper Learning About Birds & How God Takes Care of Them

Theme: Birds & God’s Care for His Creation

Bible Verse: “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.” – Matthew 6:26

Cycle 1: Introduction to Birds – God Created Them

Objective: Children will learn what makes a bird unique and recognize that God created them with special features.

1. Opening Activity:

• Show pictures of different birds and discuss what they have in common (feathers, beaks, wings).

• Play a sound game where children guess the bird sounds.

2. Bible Connection:

• Read Genesis 1:20-21, where God creates birds.

• Emphasize that birds are part of God’s beautiful creation, and He made them with different colors, sizes, and sounds.

3. Hands-On Exploration:

• Let children touch and observe real feathers and toy bird models.

• Create a simple bird craft using paper plates or handprints.

4. Closing Reflection:

• Sing a simple song about God’s creation (“God Made the Birds”).

• Thank God in prayer for making birds and letting us enjoy them.
