Pre-Kindergarten Lesson Plan - Easter

Theme: Jesus Is Alive!

Time: 1 hour

Age: 3–5 years

Focus Verse: “He is not here; He has risen!” – Luke 24:6

G – Goal (5 minutes)

Objective (in child-friendly terms):

“Today we will learn that Jesus died for us, but He didn’t stay in the tomb—He came back to life! Jesus is alive and loves us!”

• Show a visual of the empty tomb and say:

“We’re going to hear a story about the best surprise ever!”

A – Access Prior Knowledge (5 minutes)

Activity:

Ask questions to connect to what they know:

• “Have you ever had a surprise?”

• “Have you seen a big rock or a cave before?”

• “Do you know who Jesus is?”

Sing a short song they may know, like:

“Jesus Loves Me” (reinforces their prior knowledge of Jesus)

N – New Information (15 minutes)

Bible Story: The Resurrection of Jesus (Luke 24)

Use props or visuals (felt board, puppets, or picture cards):

• Jesus died on the cross.

• He was buried in a tomb with a big stone.

• On the third day, the stone was rolled away!

• The tomb was empty!

• Jesus is alive!

Repeat the key truth:

“Jesus is alive!” (Have kids repeat it with you 2–3 times, loudly and joyfully)

A – Application (20 minutes)

Activity: Empty Tomb Craft

Materials:

• Paper plate (cut in half, painted gray or brown)

• Construction paper (for Jesus, tomb, and stone)

• Glue sticks

• Crayons

Instructions:

• Let kids color Jesus and decorate their tomb.

• Help them glue the pieces to show the stone rolled away.

• Write “Jesus is alive!” on the top of each one.

While crafting, talk with them:

• “Where is Jesus now?” → “He’s alive!”

• “Why do we celebrate Easter?” → “Because Jesus is alive!”

G – Goal Review (10 minutes)

Wrap-up:

• Review the story quickly using a small storybook or the kids’ crafts.

• Ask: “What did we learn today?” → “Jesus is alive!”

• Repeat the verse together:

“He is not here. He has risen!” – Luke 24:6

Prayer:

Thank Jesus for loving us and being alive. Ask Him to help us remember Him every day.

Optional Goodbye Song:

“Goodbye, Goodbye, See You Again” (to the tune of “If You’re Happy and You Know It”)
