Lesson Plan 2: Jesus Loves Children


Goal:

Students will learn that Jesus loves all children and welcomes them into His presence.


APK (Activating Prior Knowledge): (5 minutes)

Teacher: “Who loves you at home? How do they show they love you?”

Allow students to share examples of how they feel loved.

Show a picture of Jesus with children and ask, “Who do you think loves all of us the most?”


Materials:

Picture of Jesus surrounded by children


New Information (Bible Story): (15 minutes)

1. Teacher Narration:

Read Mark 10:13-16 in a simplified, child-friendly version.

Explain how Jesus told the disciples to let the children come to Him because He loves and values them.

Highlight that Jesus loves every child, no matter who they are.

2. Interactive Role Play:

Act out the story with some students pretending to be the children, others the disciples, and the teacher as Jesus.


Materials:

Bible or child-friendly Bible storybook

Props like scarves or small baskets for role play


Biblical Integration:

Emphasize that Jesus’ love is for everyone, including them, and they can always talk to Him through prayer.


Technological Integration:

Show a short video or animation of the story of Jesus blessing the children.


Application (Activity): (25 minutes)


“Jesus Loves Me” Craft

Instructions:

Provide students with a heart-shaped cutout.

Have them decorate it with markers, stickers, and the phrase “Jesus Loves Me.”

Guide them to draw or paste a picture of themselves on the heart to personalize it.

Discussion:

Ask students how they can share Jesus’ love with others.


Materials:

Heart-shaped cutouts, markers, stickers, glue, personal photos (or drawings)


Generalization (Closing): (10 minutes)


Discussion: “Why did Jesus tell the disciples to let the children come to Him? How do we know Jesus loves us?”

Sing a simple song like “Jesus Loves Me.”

Pray together, thanking Jesus for His love and asking Him to help them show His love to others.
