Lesson Plan: Jesus Shows Kindness

Purposeful Design – Lesson 6: Jesus Shows Kindness

Goal: Students will learn that Jesus loves all children and welcomes them into His presence.

Activating Prior Knowledge (APK): (5 minutes)

1. Teacher Introduction:

Say: “Who loves you at home? How do they show they love you?”

Allow students to share examples.

2. Visual Prompt:

Show a picture of Jesus surrounded by children.

Ask: “Who do you think loves all of us the most?”

3. Connect: Transition to talking about Jesus’ love for everyone, including children.

Materials:

Picture of Jesus with children.

New Information (Bible Story): (15 minutes)

1. Teacher Narration

Read Mark 10:13-16 from a simplified, child-friendly version or a children’s Bible.

Explain:

The disciples initially stopped the children from coming to Jesus, but He corrected them.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me,” because He values and loves them deeply.

Jesus’ love is unconditional and for all children.

2. Interactive Role Play

Setup: Assign roles:

Some students as children.

Some as disciples.

Teacher plays Jesus.

Activity: Reenact the story while narrating. Guide students to show emotions (e.g., happy children, surprised disciples).

Materials:

Bible or child-friendly Bible storybook.

Props like scarves, small baskets, or toys to enhance the role play.

Biblical Integration

Emphasize: Jesus’ love is personal. He loves them and wants them to talk to Him in prayer.

Technological Integration

Play a short video/animation about the story (2–3 minutes).

Application (Activity): (25 minutes)
