This glossary project was inspired by my environmental change class where we must embody one of Texas A&M's core values in a project highlighting an environmental issue.
While bird watching and cataloguing may not be on the forefront of most peoples' minds when they think of environmental issues, bird life has become a fascination of mine for the past semester.
I have found that myself, and most other humans, extremely take their local environment for granted. The birds that swept across my vision and filled my evenings with song for years and years have honestly never occupied my mind for long.
This glossary is a way for me to show the local environment, and the birds that inhabit it, the respect and attention that they deserve.
I hope that through this website, I am able to educate, stimulate, and inspire the people of Kingwood and elsewhere to consider the "little" gifts that our local environment grants us daily.
Furthermore, I would like to thank Kingwood Facebookers for sending in their own pictures to help out with this project.
I wasn't able to find all the bird species that I knew to exist in the Kingwood area and relied on their years of local bird watching.
With their help, I was able to show that our local environment hosts an abundance of biodiversity and am open to further submissions as well!
