The Bluebird type found in Houston and in the majority of Texas is the Eastern Bluebird. The Eastern Bluebird is easily identifiable because of its vibrant blue plumage with a brownish belly.
The Bluebird likes to feast on a variety of food sources such as insects, fruits, and berries. They will sit on a perch like a fence or power line and then slowly sweep down to take their prey.
The female Bluebird is the primary builder of nests while the male is just a facilitator of materials, carrying twigs and needles to make a nest.
