The Carolina Chickadee is quite the small bird. When I have seen it in the wild, it has been curiously bouncing around the forest, looking for something to nibble at.
These birds are extremely territorial. They form flocks of two to eight birds in order to protect and defend their areas against birds from other flocks. Within these flocks, there are also dominant birds.
In a study of the Carolina Chickadee in Texas, male and females were found to have very long partners, longer than usual for other bird species.
The Carolina Chickadee is one of the more socially complicated birds that live in the Kingwood area.
