Purple Finches only spend the non breeding portion of their lives in the Kingwoo area. They are primarily seed eaters, and use their strong beak to crush seeds to get to the nut.
While birds are normally seen as allies to plants thanks to their ability carry a plants seeds far, the Purple Finch is more like a predator, breaking open plants and seed carrying devices to reach the seed.
In areas where House Finches have been introduced, the Purple Finch has become less prevalent.
