Artist Statement: The main idea behind these four pieces was to create a pure contour of a hand holding a rubber band along with three different angles of a shoe while only capturing the textures. The only two materials used for these were four pieces of drawing paper and a graphite pencil. I started them all out with a light 2H pencil and then switched to a mechanical pencil to make the lines darker. When creating these pieces I started out very lightly while only outlining the rough shape. From there I drew the details, and then finally made the lines darker and more solid. This allowed for the proportions to be mostly accurate. I would say that the hand was the only one that really put a significant amount of thought into it. It took me much longer to get each divot and ridge for each finger while also making sure the proportions were not terribly far off. The potion I chose was one that seemed simple enough while showing the details of the assignment. When picking a shoe to draw I just randomly selected one and went with it.
