The main idea behind this piece was to create a self-portrait using the graph method and graphite. I only chose to work with graphite because it is easy to blend and the marks made are not permanent. I also used a tortillon and eraser to blend and bring out the hair. There was not much thought that went into this piece, I just went square by square and polished up each one before I moved on. In the beginning, I used the viewfinder quite a bit but as I progressed I found that it was easier to get the shapes to line up if I could the single square and the whole piece at the same time.
