The main idea that guided my artwork was to create a piece around the object instead of inside the object, we made 3 art pieces for this project. The Zentangle, negative space hand, and negative space leaves. For the Zentangle I knew I wanted to make a butterfly so I drew the butterfly which took a while because It was hard to make the sides look similar but once I figured that out all I had to do was make the patterns. Then for the negative space hand, I thought I was going to struggle since I have a hard time drawing hands but as I kept looking back and forth from my hand to my paper, I found it pretty easy. For the negative space leaves, I originally wanted to make the background a sunset but as I went on It became a rainbow. I tried to blend the colors in a little bit but it's not really visible.

The materials I used for these 3 artworks were a BIC 0.7 pencil, gel pen, 2H pencil, and watercolor paint. I used the 0.7 BIC pencil for the Zentangle I started with the pencil to draw the butterfly then I went over it with a 0.7 gel pen and did all the patterns with the gel pen. For the negative space hand, I used a 2H pencil. The materials I used for the negative space leaves were a 2H pencil to draw the leaves and the detail, then I went over it with a gel pen, and the last thing I used was watercolor paint for the background.

The first art piece I did was the Zentangle, I started off drawing a butterfly which was a bit hard because the sides were uneven and I struggled with making the right side look like the left side. Once I finished drawing and going over it with a gel pen I had to come up with the designs I decided to make the patterns different. Ideas came to me while working on each pattern. The second art piece I did was the negative space hand, I thought I was gonna struggle because it's always been hard for me to draw hands but when I started drawing I was very surprised at how quickly I was drawing my hand it took me about 20 minutes to draw 2 hands when usually it would take an hour. The last art piece I did was the negative space leaves. I had trouble making the leaves look life-size and drawing the little details, it took a while but once I figured it out the rest was easier.
