Duck Stamp

The main idea of this piece was to draw a scientific illustration of a Mallard duck. I drew this duck in a field of orange with a blue sky behind him. This is an adult male Mallard duck in this art piece. I also added trees and rocks to emphasize the natural scenery that this breed of ducks typically resized in.

I used colored pencils on bristol paper for this piece. I layered the colored pencil on top of itself to create texture.

I began this piece by researching Mallards and their habitats. I also drew two sketches of my project and collected photos to be my references. After this, I began my drawing by sketching out my duck and the background surroundings. Then I colored it in with a variety of colors that I layered on top of each other.
