Assemblage Sculpture

The main idea for this project was to create a 3d sculpture out of different types of materials. I knew from the start that I wanted to make something ocean themed. So I thought a whale tail would be the easiest for me to create for this project. I also knew I wanted to make it in layers and not just one big clump of newspaper. I liked the idea of wrapping it in tissue paper as well.

I used cardboard and tissue paper and hotglue

The process for this project was messy, to be honest. I started by drawing a whale tail on a big piece of cardboard and cutting it out with a boxcutter. Once I cut out all of the pieces, I started to pick out my colors of tissue paper. I picked 4 different shades of blue, 2 for the water and 2 for the actual whale tale I also took white for the top layer of the whale tale. I started by coating the bottom layer of my whale tail in dark blue tissue paper with glue and water solution. I continued to do that for every layer.  Once all the layers dried, I put a piece of cardboard in between each layer to make all the layers stand out more. Lastly I created the water by hot glueing strips of tissue paper to the bottom of all the layers.
