Ceramics 1

During this class, we have created many projects. I am most proud of my multiple pinch pot project. This project took a lot of time and was very tedious. Creating my cactus taught me patience with ceramics and figuring out that it ceramics take time to perfect. This project also allowed me to realize that I really like to perfect the things I am making and make them the best I possibly can. This project also allowed me to realize that slipping and scoring is very important. When I was about to put this project in for a bisque firing, the cactus part broke off and I had to use a special mixture to attach it back on. This showed me I need to really make sure things are slipped and scored on before I handle them.

Taking this class has changed the way I think about ceramics a lot. I used to think ceramics was pretty easy and didn't take much time.  Taking this class has changed the way I think, now I understand how much time it takes to really make a pot good. Changing my way of thinking has allowed me to appreciate the art of ceramics so much more than I did beforehand.

There is not much I would change when it comes to this class at all but the one thing I would say is to shorten the demonstration time. Demonstrations are very informative but sometimes they take up time that could be used as work time. This would allow for more projects and more time to work on other things so kids don't feel as rushed. Overall this class made me feel so creative and allowed me to explore a new medium in the art world.
