Art history inspired project

moon mountains

11 x 8

acrylic paint

The main idea for this project is a mountain scene and to incorporate 2 different artists into my work which were Vincent Van Gogh and Kehinde Wiley.  I wanted to try and recreate Vincents painting style and I wanted to recreate Kehindes colors into my work.

The materials I used were acrylic paint and a canvas board.

The process of creating this piece of art was very fun and exciting for me. I first thought of a plan of what to do in my head and, I knew I wanted to do something with mountains. So I first painted the teal mountains, adding light to them and shading. Next, I created the pink mountains, then repeated the same process for the light brown mountains. After all of the mountains were completed I started to work on the sky aspect of my painting. I started by creating the moon and adding light purple around it. I started to add darker shades of purple and blue around the sky to create more contrast. I added pink and a little green into it as well. It soon all came together as a swirling purple sky.
