Artist Statement

The main idea that guided my artwork was the prompt to draw three views of a shoe. After this chain of assignments I then took a 1" by 1" view finder and one of my view of a shoe; (I chose the side view). I placed the view finder in one area of my shoe and decided to draw it and blow it up larger. I then took my new drawing, and placed the view finder on top of that creating an even larger zoomed version on it. I did this again one more time. Once my three zoomed drawings were done, I chose whichever one I felt had the most creative possibilities, (The third zoomed view), and started designing to fill in the spaces.

For this project I used 11" by 14" paper with a half inch border. I also used Graphite, Ballpoint Pen, and Sharpie Markers. I used a H pencil for the beginning sketchy lines for the outline, then went back over the drawing with a ink pen.

The process I went through when drawing my zoomed shoe project was to first chose whichever of the three views of a shoe above, and chose whichever one I felt had the most creative possibilities, (The third zoomed view), and started designing to fill in the spaces. When first looking at the outline, I felt it looked a lot like a candy corn, so I went with a halloween themed art piece. I started with the candy corn filling in the colors and designing within them and then figuring out what I wanted as a design outside of the main piece.
