Ten link wire rod
Headphones
Wire
The Idea that guided this artwork was to create a sculpture using wire only. The sculpture had to be about head-sized and the connections between the pieces of wire had to be the fish hook connection. The fish hook connection is when you make a small J shape at each end of the wire and hook them together. You then use pliers to pinch off the connection so that the wire is fully connected and is not flimsy or dangling. I decided to do headphones because they are literally head-sized and seem the simplest.
The material I used for this sculpture was wire. However, I used pliers and wire cutters which were really helpful when shaping my final product.
The process when creating this wire sculpture was a bit more difficult than I expected. Once I had decided on my design, I started on the circles which would eventually become the earpieces of the headphones. Once I had created those I went on to attach small pieces of wire for stability and connection. Along the way I, unfortunately, got covid so I was delayed in finishing the earpieces which set me back quite a bit. Once I had finished the earpieces I measured out and cut the top headband type piece which would connect the earpieces and finish out the design part of the project. Finally, I took some wire and bent my name into it attaching it to one of the ear pieces to look like the aux cord.
