Scratchboard

The main idea in this project is to draw things on scratch board using a sharp tool, to make it look realistic, but scratching. I decided to chose my cat, and what inspired me to do it was other people doing their pets, and I looked through my camera roll and found a picture of him, and decided to do it.

The materials I used for this project was scratchboard, and a variety of different tools to scratch with.

First to start this project we practiced scratching, and making the color light to darker, and we did this on a value strip, and then I decided the image of my cat I was going to do. My cat had a lot of grey hair, and just a lot of hair in general. When making the grey hair I scratched lightly and close together to give it that grey look, and when making the cat I focused a lot on the texture of the hair, and trying to match the color, to make it look as realistic as I could. When making the project I started with the hardest part first which was the center of the face. I probably should have started with something easier first like the side of the cat, to get more of a feel of what to do. But overall I think it came out ok, and looked pretty similar to the picture.
