Self Portrait

Graphite on Drawing Paper

9" x 12"

The main idea through this artwork is making realistic self portraits by shadiading. The first part was making a value strip for shading, and making a darkest to lightest strip.  Then we brought what we learned to are final project.

The materials I used for this project were graphite pencils, 4h, 2h, hb, b, 2b, and 4b. And a paper shading tool for blending the darknesses between colors, and shadin. Drawing paper, and photo copy paper.

The process of this was making 1by1 inch boxes and filling them out 1 by 1. This process took a while but it made it easier to shade, and I put the image of my face underneath the paper to make it easier to copy off of.  Overall I think this artwork came pretty good. I think I did a decent job of shading, and something I could of improved on is spending more time on my eyes to make them better.
