Artist statement.'

The idea of this project was to make realistic charcoal and ink drawings by shading and using the techniques that we learned.  The first thing we did were value strips by shading with different materials. The consisted of ink, and charcoal. Then we made the final project with charcoal and ink.

The materials I used for this project were charcoal. I used charcoal sticks, and charcoal pencils for making the drawing. I used a white and black ink pen for adding final details. And a sheet of 18x24" pastel paper.

The process I went through when making this was I first started on practicing shading with charcoal and ink on a value strip, and then I brought my techniques I learned to the final drawing. I printed out a picture of the dog and used the grid technique on the pastel paper. When making the artwork I focased on layering the charcoal to make it look filled, and then when I finshed the charcoal part of the drawing ( basicaly the whole drawing) and then I added the tiny hairs with a black ink pen that were on the dog with and then I added some highlights with white. I think the drawing came out pretty good, one thing I could do better is making the mouth.
