Painting of Collage

12" by 16"

Acrylic on canvas

The main idea through this artwork was to make collages of images we found in magazines, and put the collage on the paper by painting it, and adding texture to make it look like the images that we found.  I chose to do a sailboat, on top of a desert canyon, with a nice sky in the background, and what inspired me to do this was adventure and, traveling to different places.

The materials I used for this project were acrylic on canvas for the painting of the collage, magazine cutouts and glue on paper for the collage, and acrylic on canvas for the color matching swatches.

The process between my idea and my final piece turned out to be the same. For the start of this project we did some practice by making color matching swatches on a small piece of canvas. Then I started making the college, the main things I was looking for was a vehicle of some sort and different landscapes because I wanted to do the idea of adventure. When I finished the college and worked on my painting I did some things to revise like instead of making the sky over the cannons I made it the ocean instead, but overall it came out how I was expecting.
