Scratchboard

My work shows my sister jumping on our way home from a walk. This project relates to my life because it shows someone in my life that I am very close with. It also shows the goofy side of my family. I chose to make this because I saw that the trees and the road would be a good background, my sister said "I am going to jump you take a picture" this was the picture I got. My Value Strip is 11x2 Inches . My drawing is 11x8.5 Inches.

To make this project I used a piece of black and white scratchboard, a pointed scraping tool and a scraping tool with 8 little wires. I sketched out just parts of my person and the lines on the road. I started with all the very white spots. Then I moved onto the lighter grays and so one until I got to black.

I started my turning my photo to black and white. ThenI printed it and measured the size of it. After this I then made a border on the scratchboard with these measurements. After this I sketched out Angel and the lines of the road. I then scratched away all spots of the picture that were pure white. After this I moved on the her face and the trees. Then the road and her shirt and shoes. Then I signed my name and I was done. My project started out black then there was some white then more white. Then lots of shades of gray then finally it was done. My next steps could be to have tryed to not have the trees so blocky and maybe have dran them normal.
