Sunlight
During the project, we had to consistently view this chart so we knew where we planned to plant trees. We had to use this chart so we could see where the sun would be and block it out.
Water
To keep water bills low, we decided to only choose plants that need little to no water. We also increased the sizes of the drains to reduce the chances of flooding.
Human Use Patterns
We noticed throughout school that the pathway designs were not ideal. Many walkways are unused, and most kids will just walk through the grass leaving dead spots. To eliminate any pathway issues, we used tanbark so kids can walk straight across
Material Choice
We had to run an experiment on material choice during the project. Our test was to see which type of wood was most water resistant. To find this, we saw which wood absorbed the least amount of water.
Blueprinting
We had to practice our blueprinting during the project so when we presented, the judges would have a good idea of our design.
3d Modeling
We improved our 3d modeling a lot during this project because our entire project was based off of our 3d model. Our 3d model helped us present our ideas to the judges easily because they could see our plan.
Budgeting
We practiced budget a little during this project. Our group set a budget for ourselves at $10,000. We had to change some of our plans to fit into this budget because at one point or idea cost us $40,000.
Reflection
There were a couple things I did great during this project. These were collaboration and communication. Our group collaborated really well. We collaborated so well, we finished the project a day early. We also communicated really well. We communicated on how we wanted our project to look, what materials we wanted to use, and who was presenting what.
Two things I can improve on next time are critical thinking and creativity. My critical thinking was lacking because during the project, I messed up many calculations. My creativity needs to improve because our project had nothing that stood out at all and was very basic.
