Baseball

What does it take to be good at baseball? The most important skill in baseball is composure. This sounds strange, but it it true. If someone is unable to keep themselves calm and focused during any aspect of the game, it can drastically affect their output on the field. For baseball, about two of the health-related fitness and one of the skill-related fitness components are required. These include muscular strength and muscular endurance for health-related components, and coordination for the skill-related components. These three things are essential to be good at baseball, but to be the best, you need every single physical fitness component. Some of these components are more important than others, like agility, power, or speed, but these are not needed to play baseball at a high level. For example, a player like Byron Buxton is incredibly fast, agile, and can also hit with power. As a player, he checks every box for the physical fitness components, but on the other hand, a player like Albert Pujols checks fewer than Buxton, but he can still play at a very high level. Pujols is not fast, agile, and he certainly does not have very great body coordination, but he is still considered to be one of the better players of this generation because of his incredible power at the plate.
