My Goals

Goal

My goal for this season is to end with at least 5 doubles. To accomplish this goal, I will need to work every day on my speed, and especially my power when hitting. To do this, I will be sure to maximize every rep I take in practice to ensure that I can hit the ball hard on every swing. This goal is relevant to me as my personal success ultimately connects to the team's success. It will be difficult, but I hope to accomplish this goal by the end of our season, which ends on the 29th of April.

Evaluation

This season, baseball gave me many psychological benefits. Baseball was the thing I looked forward to most during the season, and it gave me the motivation needed to keep me working through the day, so I could reach baseball kind of like a finish line to each day.

For this season of baseball, my personal goal was to hit 5 doubles before the season ended. I, unfortunately, was not able to reach this goal. I do not believe that this was caused by any errors on my part, but I may have been able to reach my goal if I had pushed ever so slightly harder during practice. Looking back on it as well, this goal may have been set too high. The goal should have been set to three, because five is almost impossible considering I only had just over forty plate appearances during the season. Even if the goal was set to three, I would have not reached the number as I only had one. To have a chance at achieving this goal next year, I need to work on hitting line drives. As of right now, over 50% of the balls I put into play are ground balls. Now this isn't bad, as many of the ground balls are hits, but it is bad when my goal is to hit doubles. By hitting more line drives, I will have a better chance at hitting some in the gap, and ultimately, hitting more doubles.

I never really took any role of leadership for baseball this year. I do not mind this at all, as I would rather not be one of the leaders on the team.
