Macromolecules

Murder and a Meal

Intro

In this unit, we learned about macromolecules, the types of macromolecules, and their functions. During this unit we did a lab called "Murder in a Meal" to review what we know about macromolecules.

Content

Proteins

Proteins are the first macromolecule. The monomer of protein is DNA. Protein carries the code for life. When cells split, protein copies the DNA so that the new cell can live.

Lipids

Lipids are the second macromolecule. The monomer for lipids is fatty acids. Lipids function is to make the membrane for cells. They make the outer walls for cells and protect them.

Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates are the third macromolecule. The monomer of carbs is monosaccharides. The job of carbs is store energy. Carbs can hold energy for long periods of tame and give it of slowly.

Nucleic Acids

The last macromolecule is nucleic acids. The monomer for nucleic acids is nucleotides. Nucleic acids hold DNA.

Reflection

Two things I did well were Cooperation and Collaboration. I did well in these things by working well with my partner of the Murder in a Meal slideshow.

One thing I need to work on is focus. I found it difficult to focus on online school. To help this, in the future I will remove all distractions from my workspace. Hopefully this will help me focus better in the future.
