Students are Different but Equal
Students are equal as one and each student has their own values. In Elementary School students are able to express their creativity in an environment where they are able to learn and grow at the same time. Within the classroom students should be able to bring in their creative minds without having their creativity crushed. One student should not be left all by themselves while other students succeed. All students should be able to help out each other so that they all can succeed and reach their goals together. Art, music, preforming arts allow students to adapt to necessary critical thinking skills that they should be able to take forward beyond their schooling.
Students are able to learn in may ways such as visual, reading, writing, auditory, and kinaesthetic. I believe students succeed in learning by visual or kinaesthetic. Hands on learning, such as going outside to learn a lesson or game is very memorable towards the student. Being able to reach the students through various hands on activities allow the students to connect with the curriculum that they are being taught. Teaching students old lesson or repeating lessons that have already been taught to the students allow them to understand the concept much more, but at the same time allows them to be ready to talk about it within class. As mentioned in Yardsticks Child and Adolescent Development Ages 4-14 by Chip Wood, it is important to understand your student's culture by providing a safe place for your students in the classroom. " To more you know about a student's culture, the better prepared you'll be to interact with them and their families in ways they find comfortable and respectful" ( Wood 16 ). This show educators how they can adapt their classrooms so that they can make it feel like home. It also demonstrates how educators can better prepare to intract with all sorts of families because their are many different types of families in this world.
