As part of the Honors Program at Dominican, we are required to engage in a co-curricular experience, which is essential for enriching our learning beyond the classroom. This could take the form of a summer study abroad program or a spring break trip. Throughout the year, we are introduced to various co-curricular opportunities to choose from. These experiences allow students to interact with communities outside of Dominican, whether in San Francisco or abroad, encouraging us to broaden our perspectives and further enhance our learning experience.
Over the summer of 2024 as my co-curricular experience I traveled to Bali, Indonesia with a group of 6 undergraduate students and 6 graduate students from Dominican. This summer abroad trip took place from May 20th- June 2nd

Our time in Bali with the Bali Institute was filled with lots of memories of laughing, crying, and learning! Through Bali we were lead by Fira, Rosmi, and Maya
In Bali, we were immediately immersed in the local culture by participating in a scavenger hunt on the very first day. Each evening, we took time to reflect and write journals about our experiences, which was essential to our learning. This daily reflection allowed me to process what I had learned and identify key takeaways from each day in Bali. Our schedule was filled with cultural immersion, something I deeply valued since not many people have the same opportunity I had this summer. Bali is a beautiful place, largely due to its strong emphasis on family and community, which adds to its unique charm.
