Fall Semester ( Davidson Middle School )
Sophomore year I was placed at Davidson Middle School which was a switch from being at Coleman Elementary School. Davidson was a totally different environment from being in a 3rd and 5th grade class to being in and 8th and 6th grade math class. When I started my student observations at Dominican for my fall semester of 2022 I was in a 5th grade class and in the spring semester of 2023 I was in a 3rd grade class. As I started my fall semester of my sophomore year here at Dominican I was able to have the opportunity to work at Davidson Middle School. This was the first time being in a Middle School since I was in Middle School. This fall smester I had the pleasure of working closely with Ms. Fell's 8th grade math class as well Mr Promis's 6th grade math class. Working in both classroom gave me more experience to what it was like being a teacher in middle school, because a lot of friends and family constanly say "you're brave to be teaching middle school." As I keep being part of the education studies program here at Dominican it has enhanced my college experience even more than I thought it would because of the fieldwork experience. Not many colleges have that kind of experiences to go into the classroom right away. Besides all this working with students, families, and co-workers has allowed me keep my focus in class and enhance the experience of being a teacher.
Mrs. Fell's Classroom ( 8th Grade Math )
Mr. Promis Classroom ( 6th Grade Math )
The first year of my sophomore semester I spent my student observations in two math classrooms, one that was in a 8th grade and the other classroom was 6th grade. Each of these teachers when I observed them had wonderful teaching styles and in my 6th grade math class, Mr. Promis was using the 6th grade math standards. For my spring semester I continued my work at Davidson, but this time I was to be placed in a Special Education classroom. This is important because as teachers we will encounter students with disabilities in all settings. We as educators need to know how to provide resources to students with disabilities so they feel welcomed in our classrooms. While in Davidson Middle School I worked in a supportive classroom with Ms. Ryan. A supportive classroom at Davidson Middle School is where students were with disabilities are able to do school work and get help provided by Ms. Ryan
