The college process is stressful because you are striving for good grades as well as writing essays and filling out college applications to various schools. I had some many options for colleges that I got into, but my decision came down to how supportive the community was to LGBTQIA+ students, how safe the campus was, and would college sports fit into my schedule. When I first visited Dominican I was surprised on how pretty the campus it was for a college in the Bay Area. I met with the cross country coach Teressa Diperna, who right away introduced me to the team and made me feel welcomed in right. Dominican in my eyes felt home to me and I could see myself thriving and growing at Dominican.I was looking for a small liberal art school in which I was able to learn with my peers but also get the one-on-one teacher interaction. Dominican was the right fit for me because of the class sizes but also for the Education Studies Program. My college searching also was focused on finding a school where I could keep doing cross country and track, but be on a team where I was supported by the coaches and team. As well as how safe and supported I would feel by the athletic department.
