What is Speech & Debate Club?

In Speech & Debate Club, students prepare arguments on a predetermined topic and then go to tournaments to argue a specific side against other teams in front of a judge. A debate team consists of two people, each with different speeches in the debate round. The speeches in one round are Opening Statements, Rebuttal, Summary, and Final Focus. Through debate, students can learn critical thinking skills, have more knowledge on current events, meet new people, and boost their resume!
