What is the National Honor Society? (NHS)
NHS is a national organization dedicated to creating enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulating a desire to render service, promoting leadership, and developing character in the students of secondary schools. Members are active leaders in the school community who show a commitment to community service from volunteering at NHS events as well as on their own time. All members are expected to participate in a minimum of 20 hours of community service every school semester.

Prerequisites: To be eligible to apply for NHS, students must be at least a sophomore with a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.54 at the time of application. Sophomores need at least 20 hours of community service in order to be considered. Juniors need 40 hours and seniors need 60 hours. If these prerequisites are met, the student will be sent an email inviting them to complete an information package detailing activities and accomplishments in the areas of Service and Leadership. In addition, the student must provide a letter of recommendation, which will be examined as a reflection of Character.
