POST CLASS REFLECTION - INDIVIDUAL PROGRESS
I'm actually pretty proud of myself and my group this week. This project is a massive step up from our previous project, which I wasn't very happy with my presenting skills. I'm glad we decided on a video to keep us within the time limit, this took the weight of presenting off my mind so I could dive deep into the requirements of the project and produce quality work. I am happy with my performance for this project however there are a few pointers I'd like to touch upon.
When I was writing my script to be recorded I wrote too much information for Porter's Five Forces, which took a lot of the time I had to complete the script away from me. As a result when we were closer to submission I was feeling the crunch and was a little stressed. Luckily Cody had finally reached out to us and I was able to offload some of my tasks to him, which wasn't much when I was looking back at it (half of the SWOT analysis.
There was also the videos and pictures I could of provided Jack to help diversify the visuals for the video. It's a minor issue but something that could of been done. When recording the vocals, I actually had to record them multiple times over and over because for some reason I could not pronounce some of the text I had written. It's not that I wrote anything incorrect but I just find it hard to record my voice at times. Overall, I think I pulled my fair share of weight for this project and I always kept my communication channels open. I would go as far to say that this could possibly be my best group work.
POST CLASS REFLECTION - GROUP DYNAMICS
The group experience this time around was a lot smoother. We had thorough planning involved, improved communication channels and a strong work ethic applied. Sections of the project were divided between all of us but we also took into account Cody's repeated absence and how we should factor that in. This proactive thinking served us well, because even if Cody had not contributed we would of been prepared for the outcome and adapted. Personally I didn't see the final product until it was presented to the class, so I was very impressed with Jack and what he had produced. Kieran also was a great figure head to help guide the group through what was required of us.
There were a couple hiccups, with the most obvious being the absence of Cody for the first half of the project. He did provide an explanation to his absence, but when it came time to delegate work to him it took a lot longer than it probably should of to complete it. This could be a fault of my own as I had to explain and offload the tasks to him, but I did provide him with the option to write the sentences while we were on the Zoom call to avoid any confusion. I understand life gets in the way, but at the end of the day this affects the rest of us. We also had a couple of scheduling issues for Zoom with Cody and myself which might of helped speed up the project
The feedback we received from Peter was very positive, he even said he knows people in their Master's degree who haven't done a presentation to that quality before. There was an agreeance among the class that the presentation was of good quality however there were a couple comments that stated that vocal editing should have been in place (some vocals were loud others were really quiet). A vast majority of the comments said that the backing track was an odd choice and they don't think it was a very good creative choice as it was distracting. A couple of comments stated that the hard and soft skills along with the PEST analysis should of been more elaborated on, but apart from those comments we had a mostly positive collective reaction to our video.
Overall, I am very proud of my group considering some of the the obstacles we had to overcome. The comparison from last project is almost jarring as well, this project was a much easier to deal with than our first project.
