CONTENT SUMMARY
This was our last class with content before our study break in week 7. Peter briefly went over the presentation requirements and how it had to be no more than 10 minutes, otherwise you would be penalised for it. Peter asked the following questions that could help when presenting Project 2:
What do you perceive as your current creative figures competitive advantage?
How have they developed this competitive advantage?
What are they doing to maintain this competitive advantage?
How easy is it for a competitor or rival to copy their competitive advantage?
A value chain 9 was also mentioned in the session. These were processes that are common in every organisation and they go as followed. For the primary activities:
Inbound logistics
Operations
Outbound logistics
Marketing & sales
Service
For the support activities:
Firm infrastructure
Human resource management
Technology development
Procurement
POST CLASS REFLECTION - INDIVIDUAL PROGRESS
I'm pretty happy where I am standing in this unit. The content that is being taught I am absorbing at my own pace and it is pretty digestible. There's nothing that I'm too confused about at this point in time. We may possibly be looking to the value chain for our group project however we already have quite a bit to do and with Cody being absent I don't want to be stuck with more work than I need to. As I had finished my allocated task as prescribed, all that is left for me to complete (what was assigned to me this week in the meeting minutes) is to flesh out my ideas on the Porter's Five Forces with more references and to commence the slides for the video presentation.
POST CLASS REFLECTION - GROUP DYNAMICS
Cody was absent from this week and did not inform us. This left Kieran, Jack and myself concerned as we were not confident if we should delegate Cody with any responsibilities in case he is unable to complete them. Jack and myself had also for the most part finished our assigned tasked from last week however Kieran not done any of his tasks which we accounted for and agreed for him to finish the tasks and some additional ones.
We organised two more group calls over our study break period, one to consolidate work and another to finalise what was remaining. We've accounted for if Cody does not contact us and pull his weight, so if we stick to what we agreed on (zoom calls etc) we should be on top of everything.
